I fell in love with toy trains as a child, but I never got a set of my own. As an adult I can finally afford all those trains I once wished for, but I quickly discovered that I knew very little about what has become a very expensive hobby. So in 1983 I joined the Train Collectors Association. This national organization of fellow train collectors provides a valuable source of information and also organizes train meets throughout the country where collectors can buy and sell toy trains.

I collect both O-gauge trains from Lionel and G-gauge trains from various manufacturers. Usually the trains only come out of their boxes around Christmas time for an all too brief run beneath the tree, but I'm hoping to one day build a garden railway in my backyard.
