Dragonriders of Pern®
Julie's Fan-Fiction

In the spring of 2001 I discovered that all the Dragonriders of Pern® books were available in e-book format. I decided it was time to sit down and reread one of my favorite stories by one of my favorite story tellers from beginning to end. Of course we all know what happened September 11th of that year, one of the things that helped me through those trying times were the wonderful tales of Pern and its indomitable Dragonriders. My imagination took wing and that winter I penned two short stories.

A couple of years went by where only I and some very close friends ever saw the stories. Then I found out that Anne McCaffrey had officially given her blessing to fan-fiction based on the Dragonriders of Pern® (that little trademark symbol is part of the deal, so get used to seeing it). With some trepidation I therefore present to you the stories I wrote back then. Enjoy them and please let me know what you think.

Senoria and her green dragon Pilloth were a good reliable team that everyone could count on in a pinch, but she lacked the confidence to become a leader. Until one day she had to face a decision that no rider ever wants to face.

Senoria's First Command

Only a dragon's rider can hear what they say, but every now and then a special little girl comes along that can hear all of the dragons. One of the immutable rules of Pern is that only girls can have this special ability, but rules are made to be broken and looks can be deceiving.

The Boy Who Heard Dragons

After I had shown "The Boy Who Heard Dragons" to a few people, I was encouraged to continue the story and here is the result.

What's a girl supposed to do when her dragon won't talk to her and the most handsome man around treats her like a boy? Things could be worse, but in fact things are about to become much more interesting for the boy who heard dragons.

A Mother of Dragons

SPECIAL NOTICE! PLEASE READ

Anne McCaffrey has graciously given her permission for Fan-Fiction to be posted on the Internet. However, there are some conditions. For complete information please visit her website at The Worlds of Anne McCaffrey, but the short version is you can't download these stories. If it were me, I'd give you an e-book and let you carry them around in your back pocket for all time, but the Dragonriders of Pern® belong to Anne and her publishers and they say you gotta read 'em here. So read them, enjoy them, let me know what you think of them, but whatever you do DON'T copy them, distribute them or sell them!
